Adele Marie Cambiano Rogers, 80, of Galveston, passed away Monday, September 21, 2015, at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in Houston. She was born June 13, 1935, in Galveston, to Joseph and Florence (Giusti) Cambiano. Adele grew up in Galveston and graduated from Dominican High School. She worked at Searcy’s on Broadway for several years while living in Galveston. Adele and her husband, Jerome (Jay or Jerry, as most people know him by) moved to Houston in the late 1960’s.
Adele loved bus trips to the casinos with her friends and could always be found playing the slot machines. She enjoyed ceramics, trips to Disney, and her beloved cats. Adele had a particular fondness for Christmas, especially baking cookies and decorating. She was loved by all who knew her.
Adele was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Jerome L. Rogers (Jay or Jerry); sister, Catherine Sue McCarley; children: Joseph Rizzo and wife, Gayla; and Debra Rizzo Flowers; grandchildren: Michael Rizzo and wife, Lara; Elizabeth Rizzo; Christina Henderson and husband, Michael; George B. Flowers and wife, Nikki; Chynna Rodriguez; and Ryan Craig; great grandchildren: Jessica Rizzo, Michael and Randi Henderson; Julia, Sabrina, and Michael Rizzo Jr.; William Peek; Trevor, Brydon and Harper Flowers; and Julian, Craig, and Julio Rodriguez; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Adele’s family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 pm, Wednesday, September 23rd, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will begin at 6:30 pm, led by Deacon Sam Dell’Olio.
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, September 24th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with burial following at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
Pallbearers will be Michael Rizzo, Troy McCarley, Mark Cambiano, Anthony Longo, Ronald Voight, and Noel Layer.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Heart Association in Adele’s memory.
