Alexander John Vicevich, 90, of Galveston, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012, at The Meridian in Galveston.
Graveside service will be 10:00 am, Friday, March 2nd, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson.
Alex was born October 11, 1921, in Galveston, Texas to Frank and Fana Vicevich. He graduated from Kirwin High School, class of 1939 and then received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Texas A & M University. Upon graduating, Alex entered the US Army as a Corporal, attended officer training school, and served for 2 ½ years in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged in August 1946 as a Captain. Alex was then hired by Amoco Oil Company and then Crown Central Petroleum until leaving to teach Chemistry at Dickinson High School from 1974 to 1978. In 1980, he began a career as a private investor. Alex enjoyed many trips all over the world with his beloved wife, Anne, to whom he was married for 65 years.
Alex was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Daniel and Frank, and his sister, Mary.
He is survived by wife, Anne Bertolino Vicevich; sister-in-law, Frances Lidstone; nephews: Dr. Ronald Galfione and wife, Carolyn; Daniel Galfione and wife, Michelle; Joe Murphy and wife, Coral; George Murphy and wife, Sabrine; Chuck Lidstone; David Lidstone; Michael Lidstone; Dennis Bertolino; Jackie Lidstone and wife, Donna; nieces: Joan Galfione; Cathy Curran and husband, Bernie; Liz Murphy and husband, Billy; Phyllis Lidstone; and Rena Lidstone; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
