Alice Marie “Suggie” Quilter Harrington died Sunday, September 15, 2013, at her home. She was born July 16, 1935 in Galveston, Texas to Alice M. Kirschner Quilter and James Anthony Quilter.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Roland Joseph Harrington; her parents; her step-father, Walter Bell; her late husband’s parents, Alma Anderson Harrington and J. O. Harrington; and brother-in-law, Walter L. “Skippy” Harrington.
She is survived by her sons: Gregory Roland Harrington and Cyndi Elles of Bayou Vista; and Jeffery James Harrington and Shirley Moore of Galveston; granddaughters: Carrie Lynn Harrington and Kelli Ann Harrington Gonzalez and John Matthew Gonzalez, of Galveston; as well as great-grandchildren: Shannon Joseph Harrington and Abigail Lynn, John Matthew, Austin James and Jenna Elizabeth Gonzalez; and her precious pet and companion, Ellie. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Geraldine Harrington and Doris Harrington Slawson and husband Amos Dean Slawson; nieces: Lisa Anne Harrington Kleyweg and Jim Kleyweg, Sharon Slawson Hood, Scott Hood and their children, Teri Lynn Slawson Nelson, Brad Nelson and their children; nephews Dennis L. and Lydia Harrington and their children, Kevin D. and Edie Harrington and their children, David Harrington, and Charles and Belinda Slawson and their children. Also remembering her will be the mother of her granddaughters, Donna Girouard and husband Mark and their children Kevin Girouard, Ben Girouard and Janae Girouard; and special friends Lou MacBeth and classmates from the Ursuline Academy Class of 1953.
Alice’s family will receive visitors beginning at 4:00 pm, Wednesday, September 18th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 5:30 pm.
The family thanks Suggie’s many friends for their love, their visits and their prayers and AMed Hospice nurse Ranay Danek for her compassionate care.
