Andrea Montemayor Urbina, 87, of Galveston, TX went to sleep on Sunday, July 15, 2012.
Andrea was born in Villa de Cerralvo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, on November 10, 1924. During a visit to Galveston, she met for the first time Jesus E. Urbina, the love of her life. They were married on May 11, 1952, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She then moved to Galveston and has been an island resident for the past 60 years.
Andrea graduated with honors from the Academia Internacional de Corte y Confeccion, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico in 1949 where she received her diploma and became a professional seamstress. She loved sewing, crocheting and reading. Along with her late husband, she volunteered many hours working with the local Spanish Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, of which she has been a member for the last 47 years.
Andrea is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Jesus E. Urbina, Sr.; her parents, Arturo and Agustina Montemayor; her brothers, Brigido Montemayor, Arturo Montemayor, Juvenal Montemayor, Amador Montemayor, Reyes Montemayor and Juan Montemayor; and by her sisters, Dolores (Lola) Montemayor, Abundia (Tita) Baez, Apolonia (Pola) Lizarraga, and Benita Gonzalez. She is survived by her daughters, Rosalinda M. Urbina, Alicia Kesler (and husband John), Driana Urbina, Nidia Urbina and by her sons, Jesus E. Urbina, Jr. (and wife Martha) and George M. Urbina. She is also survived by her six grandchildren Elisa U. Bartkus, Joshua A. Urbina (and wife Emily), Calvin S. Lenderman, IV, Andrew T. Urbina, Christian A. Lenderman and Rebekka V. Urbina; and two great-grandchildren Haley I. Bartkus and Dawson A. Bartkus; numerous other nieces and nephews, relatives and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5827 Ave. T, Galveston, with Mr. Sergio Montemayor officiating.
