Anthony Paul Urbani, known to his friends and family as “Pat,” passed away at his residence on June 7, 2011, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 68. He was born on August 22, 1942 in Galveston, Texas to Angelo and Ruby Evelyn Urbani, the third of five children. He attended Kirwin High School in Galveston and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country for four years during the Vietnam era. After the Marine Corps, he joined the Galveston Police Department as a Patrolman and continued his education at the University of Houston, receiving a degree in Accounting. He then worked as an accountant for the City of Galveston and the Galveston Independent School District. Pat was currently working as a clerk and checker for the International Longshoremen’s Association Local 1665, formerly serving as Business Manager for the local.
Pat was known for his generosity and giving spirit. He was an avid sports fan and had a passion for Corvettes, owning a ’63 and ’74 model. He will also be remembered as a dedicated and loving father to his children.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his son, John William “Billy” Urbani; daughter, Patricia Ann Urbani and fiancé, Lee Martinez; precious grandson, Eli Martinez; and devoted ex-wife, Pauline Servantes. He is also survived by his brother, Angelo “Flukey” Urbani and wife, Carolyn; sisters, Barbara “Bobbie” Huerta and husband, Paul, Sr.; Margaret Urbani; and Deborah Russo; nephews, nieces, and numerous family and friends.
Pat’s family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 pm, Thursday, June 9th, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. A rosary will conclude the evening at 7:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be 1:00 pm, Friday, June 10th, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston.
Pallbearers will be Billy Urbani, Todd Huerta, Paul Huerta, Jr., Gregory Urbani, Gary Praker, Jesus Delgado, and Alex Vargas.
