Obituary

Barbara L. Frohne, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 25, 2017, at her residence. She was born August 14, 1940 in Vernon, Texas to Lenville Rogers and Bethel May Anderson Rogers. The family moved to Galveston when Barbara was 1½ years old. She grew up in Galveston and married Oscar Kenneth Frohne, the love of her life, in Galveston where they both lived.

Barbara worked for a number of years in the Galveston County Tax office. She also worked and retired from UTMB Galveston where she worked in Radiology Mammography for many years. Barbara was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; and her parents, Lenville and Bethel. Barbara is survived by her son, Kenneth D. Frohne of Galveston; sister, Corrine Broom of Beaumont; and brother, Dr. Dan Rogers of Fort Dodge, IA. She is also survived by her beloved canine companion, Buddy.

Barbara was an avid reader and would spend as much time as she could on her porch reading and enjoying the birds that lighted on her veranda. She was a wonderful friend to all, she never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She was kind and so willing to listen to others’ concerns or happy stories. She was generous to a fault, and if she knew you needed a blanket she would give you two. But, she could also be tough as nails when necessary. Above all, she loved her son and was always so very proud of him and his accomplishments.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston, TX. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with her final resting place at Galveston Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock, TX.

In lieu of flowers, Barbara requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

My Dear friend Barbara, You have known me since I was a young girl who lived across the steet from you and we have kept in touch every since . Even now that I have been in California a long time , you and I continued to talk and communicate with one another. I love you Ms Barbara and will miss you so much. You have always been so kind to me (also to my mother Idalia) and you even visited us here in my home on the West Coast. I will greatly miss our ongoing emails, copies of recipes you always send me, humorous articles/jokes especially when Galveston is having hot and humid weather. You always joked about it. My heart will heal , I will always remember you with a smile on my face. warm hugs my friend. My condolences to Ken & family. Sonya

Aunt Barbara, there are no words to express my heartfelt thanks for all of my wonderful memories with you. As a child, I remember the doll clothes you made for my Barbies, the many times you let me bake with you in the kitchen, and most of all the hundreds of jokes we shared. You were a friend, confidante, and source of wisdom and strength when I needed advice. You were always proud of my accomplishments, and we celebrated many lunches and dinners together. I never left you without a lighter heart and smile on my face. You can never be replaced. I love you and know we will meet again.

Barbara, I really don't think you knew how much you would be missed by your loved ones. You will always be in my heart and my special buddy. I will miss our usual Sunday morning breakfast, phone calls and e-mails and our special outings. I guess this time you can take the escalator to heaven. Love you much!
