Dear Cathy I am so sorry for your loss. I knew and worked with Bernie for many, many years at the Port of Galveston with a great group of fellow employees. We all relied on his expertise in Human Resources to guide us through many changes over the years. May he rest in peace and the Lord give you strength through his loss.

Condolences and prayers for his family...I had a summer job in human resources in 1986 and Mr. Curran recommended me for a position at PBS part time and one day later recommended they hire me in a full time position... Mr. Curran is responsible for my start at UTMB and i will forever be grateful to him.. I have been here at UTMB for 27years all together after leaving twice. I'm sure he has helped so many people at UTMB and in other jobs and in his personal life also... May he rest in peace... Torando M. Cazar

Cathy, Sydney and I send our deepest sympathy for your loss. Bernie was my buddy at UofH. We had some great times together. Will never forget Bernie wanting to buy me my first legal drink on my 21st birthday, which was 10 days after his birthday. Wonderful, wonderful man and even better friend. You will be dearly missed. Go with God my friend.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Cathy, I'm so sorry to learn of Bernie's passing. He helped me a lot while I was at UTMB with personnel topics. I also played softball with him, but we were on different teams. He was a very great guy. Sorry for your loss. You and the family are in my prayers.

I first met Bernie back in 1975 when I began my law enforcement career with UTMB PD . He was in the Human Resources Dept . After I left UTMB to join the Galveston Police Department , I would see Bernie every now and then, especially at Sacred Heart Church . In 2005 , I joined the Port of Galveston Police and was able to see Bernie a lot more until I retired at the end of 2017 . It was an honor to know him . I have always considered him a friend and I will always remember him for the exceptional person that he was .

To Bernie's family....I am so sorry to hear about Bernie. We worked together through good and hard times at the Port of Galveston. We shared many fun times like Harborfest Galveston; representing the Port at community functions and educational presentations at schools and community clubs. We both represented Galveston on cargo and cruise ships from all over the world. The world is now minus One Good Man and Kind Soul. RIP Bernie.
