Bessie Albonetti, 89, of Galveston, passed away Wednesday, January 08, 2014, at Grace Care of Cypress. She was born in Cameron, TX and came to Galveston in 1942 to attend Mrs. Evans’ Business School. Bessie was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. She worked for 43 years in the office at Todd Shipyard. Bessie belonged to Friends of Moody Gardens and Friends of Rosenberg Library where she enjoyed working the book sales. She also volunteered at Ronald McDonald House, Galveston Historical Society, and The Grand 1894 Opera House. Bessie served on the board of the Opera House and loved to work the Kids Fest. She and her husband traveled in the US, Canada and Europe.
Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Albonetti; her father and mother, Jean and Martha Hause; her sister, Sidney Goodbar; nephew, James David Goodbar; and brother, David Hause.
She is survived by her son, Julius Albonetti Jr. and wife, Suzanne; two grandchildren, Christopher and Michael Albonetti; and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Lelia Rogers of Amarillo, TX, Feddie Ren Fatheree of Pasadena, TX, and Dorothy Bearden of Houston, TX; brother, Bentley Hause of Cameron, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her dear friends Maureen DeMare, Lynn and Kevin Barrett, and Patricia and Jean Lasso.
Bessie’s family will receive visitors beginning at 9:00 am, Saturday, January 11th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
