Betty Ann Maxey, 66, of Beaumont, TX, passed peacefully from her earthly journey with her family by her side on April 1, 2017 in Galveston, TX. She has finished her short battle with cancer and will now spend eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Betty was born February 25, 1951, in Bartlesville, OK. She graduated from Sweeny High School and Kansas State University. Better married her husband, Elmer, and together they started their own business, Maxey Building Products, in Beaumont. Betty and Elmer retired in 2016 after many years of dedicated service to the Beaumont Community.
Betty loved traveling, reading, doting on her grandchildren, spoiling her cats, and making beautiful knit blankets for friends and family. She enjoyed game nights with Elmer and close friends, Linda and Glenn Landry. Betty was always ready to go antiquing overseas and especially Round Top antique market.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and James Bordner, who are now celebrating with her in heaven.
She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Elmer; son, Derek and wife, Janice, of Vidor, TX; daughter, Dr. Ashley Maxey Pate and husband, Robert, of Galveston, TX; sister, Suzanne McGaughey and husband, Ed, of Richmond, TX: sister-in-law, Brenda Setliff of Lecompte, LA; brother-in-law, Jerry Maxey and wife, Margaret, of Emory, TX; cousin, Rose Ham of Shawnee, KS; nephew, Staff Sgt. Aaron Balzano and wife, Leah; nieces, Melanie and Jennifer McGaughey; and many friends and extended family in Sweeny, TX.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston, TX. A reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, Betty’s family requests memorials be made to Sally’s Fund at The Animal Clinic, 701 Broadway, Galveston, TX 77550.
