Beverly was born in Galveston, Texas, and attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, Dominican High School, and Sam Houston University. She worked for many years in Galveston at the Texas Medical Branch and Hutchings-Sealy Bank before moving to Austin. In Austin, Beverly enjoyed working for the Texas Department of State Health Services until her death. In her free time, Beverly enjoyed sports – whether it was growing up playing softball or tennis, participating in bowling tournaments, watching her beloved Texas Longhorns play in any sport, or supporting her nieces and nephews in their chosen sport. More than sports, Beverly loved helping and being with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents James Patrick Grace and Leah Filidei Grace.
Survivors include her sister, Mary Grace La Coume of Lake Jackson, Texas; nieces Lori McElhaney and husband Paul of Austin, and Lindy Goodwin and husband Brandon of Pearland; great nieces Valerie Satterwhite and husband Ryan and daughter Savanna of Austin, and Carly Goodwin of Pearland; great nephews Matthew McElhaney and wife Candice of Austin, and Caden Goodwin of Pearland; cousins Kenneth Brown of Austin and Karen McCarty with daughters Raina and Trista of Austin; and numerous other extended family members, friends, and co-workers.
A special thanks to the Christopher House in Austin and the many doctors, nurses, and volunteers who treated Beverly during her illness. Beverly will always be dearly missed and remain forever in our hearts.
