Bill Joe Wiley, 78, of Galveston, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015, at The Cottages of Clear Lake in League City. He was born in Detroit, MI on October 4, 1936. Bill served in the US Air Force from 1954 until 1958 as a radio operator. His career took him from being a stock broker to teaching Dale Carnegie classes to the job he dearly loved – being an air traffic controller at Bush IAH Airport for 23 years. Bill had a brilliant mind but lived a simple life. He was an animal lover who enjoyed walking his dogs on the beach and in his neighborhood.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, William Wiley; and his mother, Dorothy Davenport. He is survived by his companion, Llady Faye Barnette; sons, Mike Wiley and Greg Wiley and wife, Lisa; two granddaughters; and one great granddaughter.
Bill’s family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 14th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Galveston Island Humane Society or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
