Bobby Swannegan, 57, of Galveston, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019, at his residence. He was born December 19, 1961, in Galveston and graduated from Ball High School with the Class of 1981. Bobby was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Galveston, where he would be found in the back pew by the main aisle. He was known for his joyful singing of all the hymns, a huge smile, kind heart and big hugs. Bobby was active in Sunday School and often served as a vessel bearer for the Sunday worship service. Bobby loved the Lord with all his heart.
Bobby made daily rounds to three gas stations/convenience stores on the island where he saw friends and did odd jobs. He will be greatly missed…in just being himself he brought joy to others.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Swannegan, Sr. and Cora Mae Evans Swannegan; brother, Richard Swannegan; grandmother, Suzie Mae Shankle; and grandfather, Raymond Evans.
Bobby is survived by his brothers and sisters: Clarence Swannegan, Jr., Johnny R. Swannegan, John Little, Sr., Cedric Little, Charleston Swannegan, Susanna Swannegan, LaShanda Swannegan, Chad Swannegan, and Danny Swannegan; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
Bobby’s family will receive visitors at 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 30, at First Lutheran Church, 2415 Winnie, in Galveston. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am, followed by burial at Lakeview Cemetery.
