Carmen Garza Ryan, 64, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 with family by her side at Cornerstone Hospital in Clear Lake. She was born in Galveston on March 16, 1953 to proud parents, Vincent and Andrea Garza.
Carmen grew up on Galveston Island and graduated from Ball High School in 1971. She went on to attend and graduate from Galveston College and Sam Houston State University. She was licensed as registered nurse and spent her career at UTMB and other hospitals around the state to serve those in need.
Carmen married Don Ryan and soon they started a family. Their marriage was blessed with their daughter, Heather, and soon after their son, Kyle. Carmen loved her family unconditionally. She was devoted to her children and her face lit up when you asked about either one of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent, Sr. and Andrea Garza.
Carmen leaves behind to cherish her memories her loving partner, Steven Tinney; daughter, Heather (Stephen) Herrera; son, Kyle Ryan; brother, Vincent Garza, Jr. (Doris Jones); sister, Gloria Hernandez (Ruben Castillo); nephew, Vincent Garza III; niece, Erin Hernandez; and great nephew, Desmond Hernandez.
A visitation in her honor will begin at 5:00 pm, Friday, February 23, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A rosary will begin at 6:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Pallbearers will be Gilbert Muir, Thomas Muir, Ruben Gonzales, Joe Puma, Kendall Gonzales, and Stephen Herrera.
