Carol C. Straub, age 81, of Temple, TX passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014. She was born on December 30, 1932 in Galveston, TX, the daughter of William Townsend Sr. and Helen Young Childress. Carol was employed by the Galveston Independent School District for 20 years. She attended Grace Episcopal Church until moving to Temple, TX. While a member at Grace, Carol used her considerable sewing talents to create vestments and alter hangings for the church. She was a member of the Galveston Island Quilters Guild. In Temple, Carol was a member of the Sammons Community Center Sewing Group and was a sewing volunteer for Gentiva Hospice.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her parents William Sr. and Helen Childress, and brothers Jess and William Jr.
Carol is survived by her children: son, William J. (Joe) Straub and wife Sandra Medina of Bastrop, TX and daughter, Claudia Turner and husband Sam of Temple, TX; grandchildren: Joe Turner of Austin, TX, Lyn Bloodworth and husband Mickey of Temple, TX, and Travis Turner and wife Samantha of Fort Hood, TX, great-grandchildren, Michael Bloodworth and Hayden Turner, and several nieces and nephews.
Carol’s family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Friday, November 28, 2014 at Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston, TX.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Grace Episcopal Church in Galveston.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
