Corradina Celli, 98, of Galveston, passed away Friday, April 2, 2010.
Her family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 7th, at Sacred Heart Church. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm at Sacred Heart, with a private burial following.
Corradina was born in 1911 in Lucca, Italy. She came to the United States on Columbus Day, 1934, settling in Galveston. Corradina and her husband, Oscar, owned and operated the infamous John’s Oyster Resort for many years. Corradina had a special talent for growing things and loved to work in her yard. She was also a great cook. Corradina was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Oscar Celli; son-in-law, Bill Alderman; and great granddaughter, Ashlee Ortloff.
Corradina is survived by her son, Oscar Celli, of Avila Beach, CA; daughter, Norma Alderman, of Galveston; grandchildren: Stephen and Joyce Alderman; Vivian and Steve Havemann; Linda and Kevin Ortloff; great grandchildren: Erin and Will Alderman; Amy and Cindy Havemann; and Andrew, Lillie, and Cody Ortloff; sisters-in-law, Valeria Celli, of Spring, TX; and Amelia Della Mora, of Santa Cruz, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Alderman, Raymond Brouillard, Robert Ford, Steve Havemann, Kevin Ortloff, and Charles Wilson. Jesse Vasquez will serve as honorary pallbearer.
