Obituary

Daryn E. Mardis, Sr., 50, formerly of Galveston, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015, in San Antonio, TX. Daryn was born July 2, 1965, in Galveston, and worked as a welder for Broome Welding and Performance Diesel. He moved to Shiner, TX, in 2008 and worked as an independent welder until 2014. Daryn spent many happy hours of his life at the race track racing cars. He was a member of Galveston Elks Lodge #126 and was an avid New York Giants fan. He also loved freehand drawing, shooting guns, building things, and had a soft spot for old Dodge pickup trucks. While in Shiner, Daryn learned how to make wine and developed a taste for it, touring nearly all the area wineries. Daryn also had a lifelong love of Boston Terriers, especially his “babies,” Buster, General, Cookie, and Scooter.

Daryn was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Henry Warren “Hank” Mardis; and his daughter, Megan Elizabeth Mardis.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; sons, Daryn Mardis, Jr., Donovan Mardis, and Sean Thompson; sister, Leigh Ann Cokins; brother, Daryl W. Mardis and wife, Carol; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Daryn’s family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 pm, Tuesday, October 13th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 14th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with burial following at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.

Pallbearers will be Daryn Mardis, Jr., Donovan Mardis, Sean Thompson, Tommy Autrey, Ben Belcik, and Ronnie Williams.
