I'm very sorry to hear of Mrs. Schuler's passing. It seems like just yesterday, instead of 50+ years ago, that I was knocking on the side door of the Ave R house and asking Mrs. Schuler "Can Gregg come out to play?" Mrs. Schuler was ALWAYS so kind to me. Her kindness has stayed with me to this day. For example, once during a birthday party for Gregg there was a hot wheels car competition and my cars lost every race. Little trophies were given out to the winners and I remember feeling down that I didn't win a trophy. But then Mrs. Schuler presented me with a "best sport" trophy for just trying. This was WAY before the current practice of all kids getting some type of trophy/award during any competition they enter but I remember how special she made me feel just for participating. She was way ahead of her time in so many ways. It makes me happy to re-live my memories of her occasionally. I hope that David and Gregg can find joy in the great memories they have of their Mom too!

So sorry to see obit for Ms. Schuler this morning. I was a manager for Kroger in Galveston in 70s and 80s and she was a customer of mine for many years. And then both her sons became employees of mine when they weren’t in school or at college. She always had a smile on her face and was a pillar in the community. So glad she got to have grandkids and all the joy they can bring. Farewell to a sweet lady and my condolences to her family.

I am sorry to hear about the passing of Ms. Schuler. I can remember that she chaperoned for the band at both the home games and as we traveled out of town. I recall when David was in the band and played trumpet. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4

Hi Gregg and David, My cousin, Sandy Nelson sent this to me today. I'll be sure and let Mom know. Mom is now 93 and lives in Cedar Park, Texas. I have such fond memories of you both and your Mom, having been neighbors and living next door and growing up together. Davene was so beautiful and so active with all her volunteering. What a wonderful Mother and friend. I have fond memories of all the Schulers next door to us. Sending you thoughts of love and comfort at this time. Merilee (Hutchison) Fox, Mesa, Arizona
