Delia Molina Torreros, surrounded by her loved ones, went to be with Our Lord on Friday, April 11, 2014, at the age of 89. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and devout Catholic, Lulac Member, Gold Star Mother and World War II vet widow.
Delia was born in Beeville, Texas on November 14, 1924. In 1948, she married Guadalupe “Bluebird” Torreros in Galveston, TX and spent her last years with her granddaughter Sylvia in San Antonio, Texas. She will be remembered by her kind and gentle lively sprit and sunshine smile. She spent her life devoted to her family and friends and her greatest passion was spending countless hours in the kitchen preparing feasts for them. She touched the lives of those who graced her presence.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe “Bluebird” Torreros; son, Jose Torreros; brothers: Johnny, Jimmy, Fred, Marty and Toby; and sisters: Rosie, Mary, Lucy and Chavela.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Sylvia Leija and husband, Joel of San Antonio, TX; sister, Eve Yeager of Galveston, TX; daughters, Joann Rocha of Galveston, TX, and Jean Pena and husband, Rick of Houston, TX; sons: Jerome Torreros of Galveston, TX, George Torreros and family of League City, TX, and Chris Salazar and family of Pasadena, TX; grandchildren: Brandy Torreros; Jose E Rocha and wife, Ann; Carlos Mata and wife, Tayna; Christina Rocha; Ricky Pena and wife, Mindy; Michael Pena and Tracee; and Jessica Hernandez; great-grandchildren: Ricky Gonzalez Jr, Anthony Gonzalez, Christopher Gonzalez, Ashley Gonzalez, Marcus Rocha, Michael Rocha, Memphis Rocha, Eryn Rocha, Nisi Rocha, Xavier Mata and Isaac Mata.
Delia’s family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 pm, Tuesday, April 15th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will conclude the evening at 6:30 pm, led by Deacon Henry Herrera.
Funeral Mass will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 16th, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Maynard Tetreault, OFM, as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Galveston’s Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Carlos Mata, Jose E Rocha, Ricky Pena Jr, Michael Pena, Ricky Gonzalez Jr, and Anthony Gonzalez. Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Gonzalez and Memphis Rocha.
