Donald Martin LaBomme, age 58, formerly from Los Angeles, CA and residing in Galveston, TX, passed away peacefully on August 30th, 2021 with his wife by his side.
He was born on October 23, 1962 in Los Angeles, California to Adolph LaBomme II and Indiana Marie Honoré. He was married the last twenty-one years to Christel LaBomme Thrasher.
Donald graduated from Alemany High School. Being a superb athlete, he was on the US Track Team and traveled to China and Australia representing the United States. Donald then joined Washington State University where he played football for the Washington Cougars. Later, he walked on as a free agent with the NFL Seattle Seahawks as a running back.
Donald was a mentor at the Boys and Girls Club in LA. He also became an honorary Shriner at the Burn Hospital located in LA. Following his football career, Donald worked for many years with Mercedes Benz in their distribution department for the remainder of his career.
Unfortunately, Donald became ill and battled diabetes and heart disease for the last twenty years. Four years ago, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery. Most recently he contracted COVID 19 and his struggle with life came to an end on August 30, 2021.
Donald is survived by his wife, Christel Thrasher; daughter, Brandy LaBomme and husband Vontaze Burfict and their three daughters; son, Brice LaBomme; sister, Annette Patterson and family; brother, Adolph Butch LaBomme III and family; stepdaughter, Sarah Phillips and family; step grandson, Joseph Mader; stepdaughter, Monica Menjivar and family; stepson, Andrew Menjivar and family; and numerous other relatives and friends.
