Obituary

Dorothy Elaine Colyer was born July 12, 1939 in Yoakum, Texas and passed away, to be with Jesus Christ, on March 14, 2014 in Cypress, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Bertha Smith, and brother. Clifford Smith.  Elaine is survived by her loving children: John Colyer (& Sherri), Mike Colyer (& Anita), JoAnna Fowles and James Colyer.  She is also survived by her brother, Leon Smith, and sister, Patsy Skains.  Elaine also has many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Elaine had a great love for her family, friends, church and the ocean. Every morning she was blessed to wake up and look out her door and smell the fresh ocean air and see the waves rolling in. This is what made her smile the most. To the world she may have been just a person but to us she was the world.

Dorothy’s family will receive visitors from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2014 at Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston, TX. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the funeral home, led by Rev. Larry Smith.  A private family interment will be held in Salem, Texas later Saturday afternoon.
