Dorothy Jane Munn, 80, of Galveston, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Sunday, November 1, 2015. She was a proud BOI, born on February 27, 1935, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Galveston. Dorothy was a graduate of Ball High School and retired from UTMB after 35 years of service. She was a dedicated member of the UTMB Retiree Association, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UTMB, and The Island Poetry Roundtable. Dorothy had a lifelong love of animals, music, literature, theatre and movies. She also enjoyed feeding the seagulls on the beachfront and claimed that they knew her personally, as they would show up in front of her house for a feeding.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Herman Korth and her mother, Ollie Rene Clark Korth.

She is survived by her brother Edwin H. Korth and wife Jennie; brother Robert L. Korth and wife Sandra; sister Dollye R. Scruggs and husband William; nephew Eric Korth and wife Joy; niece Andrea Walters and husband Kevin; niece Lesley Broughton and husband Timothy; nephew Stephen Scruggs; niece Jennifer Sanders and husband Charles; niece Natalie Korth; great nieces Emily and Sarah Walters; great nephews Matthew and Zachary Broughton. She will also be deeply missed by her special friend, Edward Tunski and her loving dog, Skippy.

Dorothy’s family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 14, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon at the funeral home, followed by burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston.

Pallbearers will be Eric Korth, Stephen Scruggs, Kevin Walters, Timothy Broughton, and Charles Sanders.

Dorothy’s family would like to extend appreciation and special thanks for the loving care provided by her health care teams at UTMB and Texas Home Health hospice care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Galveston Island Humane Society, 6814 Broadway, Galveston, TX 77554.

My sincere condolences to Dorothy's loving family. I'm sorry that I was unable to attend her services -due to illness. Dorothy & I were friends from UTMB. ( also UT retirees, OLLI & Marios. We will miss her. May she rest in peace. That was a great picture of her.
