Dorothy Jean Voigt, 77, passed into eternal life on Friday, November 2, 2012. Dorothy was born on January 11, 1935 in Rosenberg, Texas to George and Annie Flessner. She graduated from Needville High School in 1951. She was a long-time resident of Galveston where she worked as the Plan Representative for the National Maritime Union.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Irwin J. Voigt; parents, George and Annie Flessner; sisters, Evelyn Sralla and Irene Schnell; and brothers, Ervin Lee Flessner and Willie George Flessner.
She is survived by her son, Ricky W. Voigt and wife, Robin of Friendswood; daughter, Kandis Nelson of Austin; grandchildren, Amber Moseley and husband, Bobby of Clear Lake; Bryan Voigt and wife, Courtney of League City; and Marley Nelson of Austin, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Bryan (Scotty) Moseley, Abigail (Abby) Zamora, Shelby Voigt, and Braxton Voigt. She was also blessed with two step-grandchildren, Brandon and Brianna Moseley and one great-great grandson Layne Scott of Clear Lake. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends.
Ms. Voigt’s family will receive visitors from 5 until 8 pm, Wednesday, November 14th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, 3028 Broadway, Galveston, Texas.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, November 15th, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2415 Avenue G, Galveston, Texas with Pastor Doug Guthier officiating. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Robert Voigt, Roland Voigt, Cody Williams, Corky Rackley, Donnie Sralla, and Tommy Hansen.
