Obituary

Edward Soto Quintero Sr., age 99, passed away peacefully Friday, December 29, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Edward was born October 14, 1918 in Allende, Coahuila, Mexico to parents Seferina Soto and Hilario Quintero. He met his wife, Juana, at church and they married May 5, 1939. Edward and Juana were inseparable since the day they met. Their love for one another was eternal. Their 78-year marriage was made of patience, hardships, compassion, loyalty, laughter and a deep, unconditional love. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

He spent the majority of his career as a foreman in the cotton industry at Bayside, Moody Compress and Bluebonnet Warehouse where he retired at the age of 79. In the work place, Edward was known as a well-respected person of high integrity and is remembered for his work ethic and giving people opportunities. During his early years he worked as a longshoreman for ILA local 1576. Edward was a family man who always put others before himself. He instilled high morals and values and was a great example of a caring and loving person. He was an avid Houston Astros fan, enjoyed playing poker and loved western movies. He was the master jokester of the family and will be fondly remembered for his corny jokes. Edward was a long-time member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Galveston.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Seferina Soto and Hilario Quintero; his sisters, Isaura Quintero and Susie Aquinaga; his brother, Moses Medina; his son, Robert Quintero; grandson, Christopher Michael Quintero; and great-grandson, Blake Sobnosky.
