Our beloved mother, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and family, went home to be with our Lord on October 12, 2014. Ernestina G. Martinez was born December 5, 1921 to Elena Martinez Garza Ortegon and Felipe Garza and was 92 years young.
She was predeceased by her parents and son, Trinidad Pimentel. Ernestina is survived by her son, Johnny M. Martinez; daughter, Rose M. Martinez; and daughter, Patricia M., and husband, Edward Benavidez. She is also survived by her sisters, Anita O. Sanchez and Berta O. Bragg; grandchildren, Jonathan Reece, Alicia R. Watts, Bradley Traylor, Deborah Pimentel (Felipe), Rebecca Pimentel (Eddie), Michele Pimentel O’Doherty (Tony), JonPaul Martinez of Fort Worth, Nicholas Martinez of Abilene; and great-grandchildren, Dominique Gutierrez, Miranda Watts, Adrian Watts, JonPaul Martinez, Jr., Evan Pimentel, Edison Salcido, and Eliot Salcido.
Visitation will begin at 5 pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at Malloy and Son Funeral Home. A prayer service, led by Pastor Luis Morales and Associate Pastor Richard Rodriguez, will begin at 7 pm. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at Malloy and Son Funeral Home with burial to follow at Galveston Memorial Park. Pallbearers are son, Johnny Martinez; grandsons, Edward Benavidez, Jr. and Daniel Benavidez; and friends, Felipe Moralez, Eddie Miranda, and Charles Fagnana.
