Obituary

Guillermina G. Leal, age 88, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015. She was born on February 10, 1927 in General Teran, N.L. Mexico. In 1946, she married the love of her life, Antonio G. Leal. They had two daughters, and by 1956 the family had immigrated as permanent residents to the United States, later attaining naturalized citizenship. They both exhibited an exemplary role as parents and in the work effort setting, with the highest level of loyalty and honorability to the community and this country. Guillermina was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Galveston, Texas and thoroughly enjoyed her participation in the Spanish Choir, in which she shared her guitarist talent for many years.

She is survived by one sister, Maria del Carmen Silva; two daughters, Novemi Leal, Marie Leal-Morgan and her husband, Eddie Morgan; two grandchildren, Chris Castillo, Nancy Bravo-Garcia and her husband, Ruben M. Garcia; four great grandchildren, Chase and Elissa Castillo, Arianna and Jacqueline Garcia; and a number of other relatives and close friends.

Guillermina’s family will receive visitors beginning at 9:00 am, Monday, March 30th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 am Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with burial following at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, in Webster.

The family would prefer that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be sent in Guillermina’s name to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1010 35th St., Galveston, TX 77550. Funds are to be utilized for the poor and hungry.
