Harry Charles Lera, also known as “Dirty” passed away in his home at the age of 71. Harry was born, raised and lived his entire life in his beloved city of Galveston. He was the son of O.J. “Duggie” and Luke Lera. He is survived by his sister, Margaret Lera Lagrone and her husband, Don; nephews, Don, Jr. and wife, Paula, and Jay Lagrone; great nieces and great nephews: Duggie, Hunter, Brooke, and Jenna Lagrone; cousins, Totsie Lera, Joan Corn, Fredye Lou Dennard, and Andy Nini and all of their many children; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Harry graduated from Ball High School, and from there he joined the US Army, serving in Alaska. From there, he attended electrical school and became a member of the IBEW #527. Harry loved fishing and participated in the annual Drum Tournament for the Handicapped, taking them out in his boat. He was a member of the Galveston Gunfighters and the Korean Tae Kwon Do Texas Martial Arts Institute, where he earned a Black Belt.
As Harry requested, there will not be a traditional service but there will be a celebration of his life at a later date. We would like to thank all of his friends for their help, kindness, and prayers.
