Helen Greco Amato, 93, of Galveston, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at her son’s residence in Texas City, Texas. She was surrounded by family members.
Helen’s family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 pm, Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will begin at 7:00 pm.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, TX.
Helen was born March 28, 1924, in Apalachicola, Florida. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Nothing made her happier than family gatherings and her passion for cooking for all of us. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters Association.
She is preceded in death by her husband Albert Amato, Sr., and her daughter, Helen Amato Gonzales.
She is survived by her children: Anthony Amato and wife Pam, John Amato and wife Lucy, Albert Amato, Jr. and wife Kathy, Sandy Amato Hunter and husband Tom; son-in-law, Robert Gonzales; grandchildren: Heather Amato, Tony Amato, Alan Amato and wife Laura, Alisha Amato, John Amato and wife Jaclyn, David Wallace, Ryan Wallace and wife Tiffany, Justin Gonzales, and Taryn Gonzales; six great grandchildren; her sister, Josephine Arcidiacono; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be her six grandsons.
Memorials may be sent to AMED Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
