Dwight M. Nittsche left a message on January 30, 2021:
I am shocked and saddened by the news of Herbie's death. I knew the Doreck's well for the thirteen years I lived on Galveston and was blessed to know you. Kindness and generosity are a natural trait as well as the warmth you bring just by walking into a room. I will always treasure the time you shared with me at Mardi Gras, Krewe gatherings, Elk's Lodge, and many community events. I was most impressed at the determination Herbie shared when he believes in something, He was the main force that empowered creation of the Men's Club at First Lutheran, as well as flying over the Men's Club picnic with Dave Hoh, dropping thousands of pieces of candy for the kids and young at heart. I pray that the beautiful memories will fill your heart with peace and comfort. I still and always will treasure those memories your family gave to me. It's impossible to list the multitude of blessings your family has shared. That is a wonderful thing about memories, each is a personal gift from God which nobody can ever take from you. May your family be so blessed. Dwight Nittsche +

I want to express my deepest sympathy to the Doreck Family, especially to Herbie's wife Jeannie. Herbie was one great guy, and I remember all the fun days we had, at all the beach parties in Galveston. He always had a smile on his face and was a delight to be around. I know he is truly excited to be with his family in heaven. I know all of us who knew him, will miss him, but he will remain in the hearts and minds to all of us who loved him. Rest in Peace Herbie, until we meet again.
