Jack W. Heitman, 84, of Galveston, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013, in Sargent, Texas. He was born June 9, 1929, in Galveston and served in the US Merchant Marines during World War II. Jack spent his career as an iron worker with Local #135 for 40 years. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed doing yard work.
Jack was a longtime member of Calvary Church of Sargent.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, LaVerne Heitman; and his son, John Heitman.
He is survived by his daughters, Vicki Simon and husband, Joel; and Delores Heitman and husband, Steve Moller; grandchildren, Brett Moller and Stacy Heitman; two great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Marie Hyer; and longtime companion, Opal Micheletti.
Jack’s family will receive visitors from 3:00 until 5:00 pm, Sunday, December 22nd, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Monday, December 23rd, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with burial following at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
