Jake Richard (Ricky) Dodson, Jr., 61, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 10, 2015. He attended Galveston public schools, where he was an active member of the Ball High School Band. Ricky was a strong supporter of the Tors. He had season tickets and loved to attend all games, even out of town games, with his lifelong friend, Johnny Lidstone. Rick graduated from Ball High in 1972. After graduating from the University of Houston, he began his professional life as the owner of several businesses. His accounting background led him to a life and career of helping others. Rick was employed by the City of Galveston as an accounting supervisor.
Rick was a very active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. As a lifelong servant in the Lutheran church, he culminated his service by holding the position of church Treasurer.
Ricky was always the life of the party and loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, family gatherings, and time with his friends. He was an active member of the Krewe of Aquarius and could not wait for Mardi Gras every year. His wicked sense of humor kept everyone on their toes, and he often had the last laugh. Uncle Ricky will be greatly missed, as he was so loved by his family and friends.
