Jesse Carl (JC) Henry died at UTMB Hospital in Galveston on July 11, 2012. He was born in Conway, Arkansas on February 10, 1930. Jesse moved to Houston, TX, in 1948 and began working as an apprentice for Houston Lighting & Power. He retired 40 years later in 1987 as a safety supervisor. He served many areas of HL&P territory, including Galveston. JC also served as a volunteer police officer for the City of Spring Valley during the late 1960’s. After retiring in 1987, JC lived in Navasota, TX, with his wife, Shirley, until 2011. He and his wife moved to Galveston last year due to his failing health. JC was a resident of The Meridian on 23rd Street from May until his death in July.
JC was preceded in death by his son, Jesse Carl Henry, II; his parents, F.Y. (Bossy) Henry and Laura Kathern Henry; two brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shirley Roach Henry; daughter, Judy Henry; son, Daniel Stephen Henry and wife, Suzanne; granddaughters, Amanda Arnott, Stephanie McCasland, and Laura Stone-Henry; great grandchildren: Graham Schooley III, Alexandra Schooley, Grace Schooley, Ann Schooley, William Arnott, Kylee Edmondson, Nathan Henry Stone, and Mathew Alan Stone.
JC’s family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Friday, July 20th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, 31st & Broadway in Galveston. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, July 21st, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston with burial following at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston.
Pallbearers will be Warren Moody, Ryan Moody, Jay Heichelheim, Monti Gibbs, Dan Busa and friend-Spider. Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Weeks, Rodny McCasland, Scotty Heichelheim, Kris Heichelheim, and Alexa Heichelheim.
