Obituary

Jesus (Jesse) Gonzales Vasquez, 92, of Galveston, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018, at Methodist St. John Hospital in Nassau Bay, TX. Jesse was born November 21, 1925, in Galveston, to Joaquin and Herminia Vasquez.  He was a lifelong resident of Galveston and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Jesse served his country in the US Army during World War II, and then spent his career as a self-employed general contractor until his retirement.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 66 years, Julia; and brothers, Joe Vasquez, Lupe Vasquez, and Armando Vasquez.

He is survived by his daughters, Sylvia Clayton, Katheryn Ryan, and Patricia Phillips and husband, Oscar; son, Arthur Vasquez; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Billy.

Jesse’s family will receive visitors beginning at 10:15 am, Friday, January 5, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A funeral mass will begin at 11:00 am with burial entombment following at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson.
