John Thomas Stevens, 84, of Galveston, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at UTMB Hospital. He was born on Galveston Island on July 28, 1930 and served his country on the front lines of the US Army during the Korean War. John worked in maintenance and retired from the Ashton Place Apartments & Townhomes.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Laura Purjet Stevens and Francis E. Stevens, Sr.; two sisters; one brother; and one nephew.
He is survived by his former wife, Jeannette Schultz; brother, Raymond Joseph Stevens; a niece whom he was particularly fond of, Laurel Marie Breen; and four nephews.
John’s family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 pm, Thursday, November 13th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will begin at 6:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am, Friday, November 14th, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with burial following at Galveston Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be George Gates, Richard A. LeCompte, Tim Nallie, Don Poole, Tony Socias, and John M. Leonard.
