Joseph John (JJ) Russo, age 69, of Galveston, passed away on February 25, 2012. JJ was born in Galveston on February 9, 1943 to Salvadore William Russo, Sr. and Frances Jane Vlastelica Russo. He was a life-long resident of Galveston.
JJ graduated from Ball High School and attended College of the Mainland and was employed by George Schmitt Co. He was deeply devoted to caring for his mother and father until their death. His hobbies included videography, hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and an active member of the Krewe Aquarius. JJ will be sadly missed by his family and many friends and will be remembered for his kindness and generosity.
He is survived by his brother, Salvadore W. (Sammy) Russo, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Hempstead, sister, Frances (Tippie) Walker and husband Floyd, and brother Charles L. Russo and wife Debbie of Friendswood. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and cousins.
A visitation will begin at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Community, 1604 9th Avenue North, Texas City, at 5:00p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. A rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 2:00p.m. at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Community with graveside service following at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock.
Pallbearers are Jeffrey Chad Russo, Jeremy Lee Russo, Jerome Russo, Floyd Walker, Jr., Michael Moak, and John Lawrence. Honorary pallbearer is Diego Lopez.
