Obituary

Julia Vasquez received her reward of eternal rest on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Friendship Haven Nursing Home. Julia was born on January 9, 1926 in Galveston, Texas to Jesse and Manuela Rabago Sr. She was a lifelong resident of Galveston and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Julia had spent a lifetime taking care of her family and accomplished a 26 year career with UTMB working with Cerebral Palsy children at Moody State School.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jesse Rabago Jr.; sisters, Mary Rabago and Delores Moran.

Julia leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 66 years, Jesse; daughter Sylvia Clayton and husband Miles; son, Arthur Vasquez; daughter, Katheryn Ryan; and daughter Patricia Phillips and husband Oscar; sister, Lupe Galicia; brother, Tony Rabago and wife Bennie Angel; brother, Henry Rabago and wife Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the physicians and staff of Cornerstone Rehab Hospital and Friendship Haven Nursing Home for the compassionate care given to Julia during her illness.

Julia’s family will receive visitors beginning at 10:15 am, Friday, March 16th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral mass will begin at 11:00 am at the church with Father John Taosan, OFM, as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson.

Julia will be truly missed, but will live on through her family and all the wonderful memories she left with everyone whose life she touched.
