Julio Sizar Molis, 84, passed away December 5, 2015, at UTMB, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Julio was born January 22, 1931, in Galveston, TX, to Antonio & Angela Molis and was raised by his dear Aunt Maria Leal. Julio worked for Southern Union Gas Company for 25 years before retiring. He also worked for the City of Galveston as an inspector for the Sanitation Department and was a member of the Catholic faith and Woodmen of the World.
Julio is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Angela; aunt, Maria “Nina” Leal; son, Anthony Molis; brothers, Charles, Antonio, and Joseph Molis; sister, Elena Molis; grandson, Val Molis; and granddaughter, Veronica Salinas.
Julio is survived by his children (and spouses): Angela Molis (David), Augie Molis (Cynthia), Anna Stroud (Archie), Joseph Molis (Amy), Cynthia Reedy (Rick), Julie Molis (Manuel), Phillip Molis, Sr., Elena Molis (Paul), Val Molis (Julie), Stephanie Gutierrez (Pedro), and Juan Esparaza; his beloved dog, Chico; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons he loved so very much: Darin Radzieski, Jr., Louis Radzieski, I, Cosmo Gazales, Phillip Molis, Jr., Deven Molis, William Molis, and Robert Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Tristan Molis and John Gutierrez.
The family would like to give special thanks to the following individuals and organizations for the care of our beloved father: Dr. Gonzales, Dr. Khalife, Dr. Camacho, Dr. Oro, Dr. Wong, Cornerstone, and UTMB Neuro ICU.
Julio’s family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, December 9, at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, 21st & Church, in Galveston. A rosary will begin at 6:30 pm. A mariachi funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 10, also at St Mary’s, with burial following at Calvary Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Galveston Elks Lodge, 1518 23rd Street.
