Our beloved Fay passed from this world on November 13, 2013, surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. Fay was born on August 31, 1925 in Clemville, Texas to Wilford and Katie Sparks. She moved to Galveston, where she met a handsome soldier named Louis R. Labardini, Sr. and their life together began. Fay and Louis not only shared the same August 31 birthday, but they were married on their birthday in 1946, having recently celebrated 67 blessed years of marriage.
Fay was a talented seamstress, baker and cook. Fay was an integral part of the formation of the Lassie softball league in Galveston in the mid-1960s. She was a dedicated volunteer and managed the concession stand in the early years of the league. More than anything, Fay was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, (MawMaw) great-grandmother and was without question the best mother-in-law EVER! She was an incredible blessing to us and will forever be in our hearts.
Fay was preceded in death by her parents and her twin brother Ray Sparks. Fay leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband Louis R. Labardini, Sr. of League City, son Louis Labardini, Jr. (wife Melinda) of Pearland, daughter Carol Culligan (husband Frank) of League City, daughter Sharon Ciavaglia (husband Mark) of Texas City, and son Michael Labardini (wife Mary) of League City. She also leaves eight grandchildren Cara, Lindsay and Amanda Labardini, Christopher Culligan, Kelsea, Addison and Lane Ciavaglia and Lauren Labardini, along with four great grandchildren. Fay is also survived by her sister Margie Parks of Markham and numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston on Saturday, November 16th. The family will receive visitors at 10:30 am and a funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon. Family members will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America alzfdn.org.
