Kincy Donnell Rygaard (Kin) completed his journey here on earth on July 26, 2014, at the age of 71. Born March 20, 1943 to Quentius Vincent Rygaard (Kincy) and Marie Sampier Rygaard, he was a proud BOI and a master historian, specializing in facts about Galveston, the state of Texas, and generations of the Rygaard family. Kin was a fascinating storyteller, never missing an opportunity to share his wealth of knowledge with others.
Kin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Vincent Rygaard; his niece, Roxanna Mairi Rygaard; grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Jessie Rygaard; son, Richard Donnell Rygaard and wife, Ines, twin granddaughters, Skadi and Thora; his beloved sister, Melody Rygaard Smith (Missy) and her husband, Mike; and his brother-in-law, Jonathan Scott Dobson. Memories and a piece of their uncle’s heart belong to niece, Michelle Robertson Glickman, her husband, Clark, and their sons, Austin and Carter; nephew and loving godson, Christopher Vincent Robertson, his wife Natalie, and their sons, Caleb and Ryder; nephew, Randy L. Robertson, Jr., his wife, Jessica; and Quentius Vincent Rygaard II (Quent) and his family. He is also remembered with love by his uncle and aunt, Pete and Mary Lou Rygaard and all his Rygaard cousins: Donita, Terri, Dennis, Peter Wayne, Ricky, Sherry, Kay, Marky, Charlene and Patsy.
At Kin’s request, a family gathering in his memory will be held at a later date, with his Pink Floyd music playing in the background. He lived a unique life, one of his own design, and so for you, our precious Kin, “Morgan hat gebrochen.”
