Lee “Big Lee” Allen Taylor, Sr., 60, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016, in Texas City, TX. He was born December 20, 1955, in Odessa, TX. Lee graduated from Ball High School, class of 1974, where he was a star player on the basketball team. He played softball in Galveston for 25 years and was known as the “Home Run King.” Lee also had a love of golf and darts. He also spent many enjoyable years coaching Little League Baseball and Basketball at the Galveston Boys & Girls Club.

Lee worked in maintenance at the Galveston County Courthouse during the 1980’s. When asked what he did as a career, he always answered he was a “jack of all trades and a master of none.”

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Atwell Boone. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Taylor; daughter, Amy Salinas (Benny); son, Lee Taylor, Jr. (Thelma); stepchildren, Fred, Jr., Desiaray, and Destiny; sister, Nancy Boone Sliter (Drew); brother, Richard Boone (Monica); grandchildren: Gavin, Breann, K’Lee, Fred III (Tre´), Damian, Astella, De’niyah and De’veah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lee’s family will receive visitors beginning at 12 noon, Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A service celebrating Lee’s life will begin at 1:30 pm at the funeral home.

I am so sorry for your loss. I met Lee as a freshman in high school way before I became part of your family. I was very shy, and he was not - lol. For some reason he started calling me Mitchell. I still smile to think about it. He was so nice to me. I know he will be missed. Love you all.

Will always remember him as my body guard in softball games when times got out of hand. I got into a fight at second base one game and the next thing I knew was Lee coming over the top of me and sending the other guy on his back. Fun times.
