Leo James Collopy, Jr., 93, of Galveston, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2011, at his residence.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Friday, September 16th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with Father Maynard Tetrault, OFM, officiating. Burial will follow the service at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Thursday, September 15th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.
Leo was born January 30, 1918, in Galveston, Texas. He owned and operated The Boatmen’s Association for 45 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Emma and Leo James Collopy, Sr.; wife, Jewel Collopy; five sisters; and one brother.
Leo is survived by his son, Michael Collopy and wife, Betty, of Texas City; daughters, Michele Jourdan and fiancé, Chris Lewis, and Janice Carothers, both of Galveston; sister, Eileen Shaklovitz and husband, Dan; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Chris Lewis, Leslie Summerville, Robert Rodriguez, James Mansker, John Mansker, and David Mansker.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Richard Beach for the exceptional care he gave to Leo.
