Lisbeth Ann Crunk Carlson, 86, passed away at her home Monday, September 11, 2017 surrounded by family and friends after a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John J. “Swede” Carlson, Jr., parents Eddie J. and Elsie C. Crunk, brothers Hiram J. Crunk and Edward R. Crunk, and sister Mildred C. Dougan. She is survived by her children, David R. Carlson and partner Jane Nyberg of Aptos, CA, James R. Carlson and wife Dorothy of Kingwood, daughters, Terri L. Carlson and Carol A. Carlson of Galveston, grandsons John R. Carlson and D. Wesley Carlson of Houston, sister Wanda J. Huddy and husband Robert of League City, as well as nieces and nephews.
Lisbeth was born March 8, 1931 in Rockport, KY and lived there until the death of her father in 1939. The remaining family relocated to Detroit, MI. After her mother remarried, the family moved to Houghton Lake, MI where she graduated from Houghton Lake High School in 1949. Soon after graduation, she moved to Galveston and met her future husband. She worked in various administrative jobs, then started a long-term career at UTMB, retiring in 1991. She cared for her ailing husband until his death in 1993 and spent the remainder of her years traveling and enjoying the company of family and friends.
Visitation will be at 11:00am, September 16, 2017, followed by a funeral service at noon, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, Galveston, TX. Burial will follow the service at Galveston Memorial Park, Hitchcock, TX.
The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to Rachel Hamilton Jones for the loving care and friendship she gave to their mother. They would also like to thank the staff of Sigma Home Health and Traditions Hospice, Dr. K. Jana, Dr. B. Jana, Dr. R. Roberts and Dr. L. Grumbles.
