Lorraine Elizabeth Miller passed peacefully Sunday, March 29, 2015. Born and raised in Galveston, TX, Lorraine was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and eventually retired from Southwestern Bell in 1988. She spent her time quilting, knitting, and sewing. One of her favorite pastimes was to knit preemie hats and donate them to UTMB. Lorraine was an active member of her church, St. Patrick’s, the Serra Club, and Julia’s Circle.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Annie Hemingway Miller; her father, Mr. Clarence Albert Miller; and her nephew, Mr. Charles David Miller.

She is survived by her brother, Clarence Albert Miller, Jr. and his wife, Christine Rieg Miller; her niece, Lorraine Ann Bullis and husband, Jerell Bullis; her great-niece, Heather Hill and her husband, Brendan Hill; her great-nephew, Michael David Bullis and his wife, Erin Bullis and their two children, Hunter and Reagan Bullis.

Lorraine’s family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 pm, Tuesday, March 31st, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. A rosary and vigil service will begin at 6:00 pm, led by Deacon Sam Dell’Olio.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 1st, at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica with Father EJ Stein, OFM, as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.

The family would like to thank Lorraine’s friends, Dolores Jensen, Patricia Stephenson, Dena Yngve, and Stephanie Wilcox and her son, Bryce Vandecaveye, for all their help in assisting her in the last few months. Great thanks also to Lorraine’s Goddaughter, Carol Ann Gimenez, for all of her prayers.

If you would like to make a donation to St Patrick’s Church, it would be greatly appreciated.

Lorraine & I met in the late 60's & worked together from 1972 until she retired. Over those years my family & I became very good friends with Mrs. Miller & Lorraine. I will always miss her.
