Lorraine Helen Janke, 88, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 19, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Chicago, Illinois on October 1, 1924, Lorraine moved to Galveston in 1961 and worked at Kmart for 22 years until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Lucy Strasser; brother, Raymond Strasser; and husband, Albert Janke.
She is survived by her brother, Donald Strasser; children: Albert Janke and wife, Marie, of League City, TX; Janet Janke of New York, NY; Robert Janke of Galveston, TX; Susan Armantrout of Galveston, TX; and Mark Janke and wife, Penny, of Galveston, TX; nine grandchildren: Matthew Janke and wife, Erica; Nick Janke; Natalie Armantrout; Jennifer Armantrout; Crystal Frey and husband, Chris, of Lexington, KY; Chelsea Janke; Chloe Janke; Mark Janke, Jr.; and Jerid Janke; four great grandchildren: Giovanni Janke; Zoey Janke; Maraya Molina; and Jessiah Hernandez; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Lorraine’s family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 pm, Monday, July 22nd, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 6:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 23rd, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with entombment following at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Janke, Nick Janke, Jerid Janke, Mark Janke, Giovanni Janke, and Alex Destei.
