Louis Victor Trochesset, 76, of Galveston, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018, at UTMB Jennie Sealy Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He was born March 1, 1941, in Galveston, Texas and graduated from Kirwin High School. Louis served his country in the US Navy and returned home after being honorably discharged to work in the family business, Four Brothers Boat Works. He later became the drydock master for Todd’s Shipyard, retiring after 28 years when the company closed. Louis continued his love for working on the water at the Galveston Yacht Basin. Louis loved to keep busy and soon joined the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office as a jailer until his retirement. He was a member of the Galveston Propeller Club and the Galveston Elks Lodge #126. Louis had a strong faith in God and was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman who loved spending time with family and friends deer hunting in South Texas at the family “Camp.”
Louis is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Joseph Trochesset and Clair Lucille Duggan Trochesset; sister, Gayle Trochesset Jahn; and brother, Henry J. Trochesset.
He is survived by the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Elisabeth “Ellie” Trochesset, his wife of 57 years; son, Louis W. Trochesset and wife Jeanene; daughter, Jeanette Trochesset Swafford and husband James; his granddaughter, Halen Swafford; step-grandsons, Stuart Lee, Travis Lee and wife Brandy; and great granddaughter, LeiLana Lee; his brothers, Wallace “Tootsie” and Larry Trochesset; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his beloved dachshund, Schotzi.
Louis’ family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 pm, Monday, January 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A rosary will begin at 7:00 pm, led by Deacon Sam Dell’Olio.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 23, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Frank Fabj as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Mausoleum in Hitchcock.
Pallbearers will be Wallace (Ellis) Trochesset, Wallace Trochesset, Henry Trochesset, Frank Trochesset, Duggan Trochesset, Chris Trochesset and Gary Praker.
Honorary pallbearers are Freddie Poor, Nelson Byrd, James H. A, Swafford, Elroy Bishop, and Joe Sireno and the members of the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.
