On October 14th one of the world’s warmest, empathetic, genuine yet feisty women passed away at the age of 72. Lucille was born February 20, 1940 to Anthony A. Sedgwick and Evelyn Mary Killian Sedgwick in New York City, NY. As a toddler she moved back to her father’s hometown of Galveston where she grew up and graduated from Dominican Catholic School. She fell in love with and married Malcolm James Pye, Sr. in 1958. They were blessed with three children, Malcolm James Pye, Jr., Jeffery Pye, and Juliet E. Pye. Lucille also completed a Master in Social Work Degree from U of H, after which she worked in the field for 20 years. After her retirement she enjoyed traveling and spoiling her Yorkies!

She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws and oldest son, Malcolm James Pye, Jr.

She is survived by her husband; daughter, Juliet E. and son-in-law, Dirk Van Der Meyden; son, Jeffery M. Pye and wife, Theresa Pye; and brother, Robert Sedgwick of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kevin Hoeke; Aimee Hoeke; Zachary Leanox; Steven Hoeke; Damon Leanox and Bridget Van Der Meyden and six great grandchildren.

Lucille’s family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 pm, Wednesday, October 17th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 6:00 pm.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Thursday, October 18th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Leanox, Damon Leanox, LCPL Steven Hoeke, Jim Hallene, Darrell Pye & Greg Koester.
