Lydia Marie Yeamans, 97, of Galveston, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016, at her residence. She was born July 3, 1919, in Kinder, LA, and moved to Galveston in the early 1950’s. Marie sang with the USO during World War II at Ft. Crockett. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and homemaker who devoted her life to raising her four children. She loved to cook and enjoyed spending time with her family. Marie was a former member of Central Christian Church.
Marie is survived by her daughters, Marie Ullrich and Sandy Ross and sons, Ray Yeamans, Sr. and David Yeamans; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and one great great great granddaughter.
Marie’s family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with burial following at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Galveston Island Humane Society.
