Your wings were ready, but my heart was not!

Maria (Mary) Lopez Olvera, 68, was born on January 17, 1951 and passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019. Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Rudolfo Olvera Jr.; parents, Gregorio Garza Lopez, Esperanza Vargas and stepmother, Maria Cipiana; and son-in-law, Ramon Sifuentes Jr. Maria is survived by her beloved children: Rose Mary Olvera, Rose Lee Acosta, Albert R. Olvera, and Belinda Sifuentes; sons-in-law and daughters-in-law: Robert, Silvester Acosta, and Amie; sisters and brothers: Gilbert Lopez, Gregorio Jr. Lopez, Rebecca Lopez, Janet Guerra, Albert Varges, Mary Ann Milstead, and Richard Lopez; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, many friends; and last but not least her beautiful and loyal “BLUE.”

Mary loved to laugh and make others laugh as much as she could. She had the biggest loving heart, she always put everyone’s needs before her own. She had a passion for music, and she was an excellent cook who loved to cook for her family and friends. She loved her children wholeheartedly as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters and brothers. Mary was a loving mother, wife, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was adored by many and will be truly missed, but she will live on through all of us, and our memories.

We want to give a special thanks to her daughter, Rose Mary Olvera; her son, Albert R. Olvera; and her grandson, Eliberto Miranda for being her wonderful, loving and loyal caregivers in her final years.

We would like to invite anyone who Mary’s heart has touched to Malloy Funerals & Cremations; 3028 Broadway, Galveston, TX 77550 on Friday, May 3, beginning at 5:00 pm.  A service celebrating Mary’s life will begin at 7:00 pm.

Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I’ll miss you until we meet again!
