Mark Brian Wichlep, 45, of Galveston, passed away Friday, September 3, 2010, at his residence.
Mark was born February 2, 1965, in Galveston, Texas. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and then graduated from O’Connell High School in 1983. Mark worked for 18 years at the San Luis Hotel, where he was currently a purchasing manager. He received the honor of “Employee of the Month” several times and was very dedicated to his work and work family. However, Mark’s greatest pleasure in life was his sons. He enjoyed playing and watching sports with them. They attended numerous games together. Mark also enjoyed music and went to many concerts with his sons. He was very dedicated to his family.
Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his father, John Wichlep; mother, Rita Wichlep; sons, Andrew, Noah, and Jude Wichlep; brother, Stephen Wichlep; sister, Julie Griffice and husband, Charles; nieces, Chelsea Cochrane, Katelyn Wichlep, Scarlett Groth, and Greta Groth; nephews, Jonathan Wichlep, Joseph Maraziti, and Zachary Groth; and best friend and mother of Noah and Jude, Karin Groth.
Mark’s family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 7th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Tuesday at Sacred Heart, led by Deacon Robert Standridge. Burial will follow the service at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Wichlep, Charles Griffice, Eli Abad, Alex Gonzales, Martin Lopez, and Irvin Mitchell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Maraziti, Jonathan Wichlep, and Zachary Groth.
