Mark Wesley Baty, 55, died Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Cornerstone Hospital in Webster, Texas. Mark was born February 20, 1959 in Galveston, Texas to Melvin and Pearl Bilotta Baty. He attended St. Patrick School and the Galveston public schools. Mark was diagnosed with type I diabetes at the age of nine. He accepted and managed his illness as he grew up, and remained active and positive. Mark was a 1977 graduate of Ball High School where he played first-chair clarinet in the band and orchestra. He attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Galveston College and the University of Houston at Clear Lake. Mark spent his career in finance as a mortgage-closer manager for several mortgage lending firms.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Finis and Ruby Waggoner Baty, and Thomas and Augustine Franzzo Bilotta; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mark is survived by his brothers, Matthew and Michael Baty of Texas City; his aunts, Dorothy Baty McLaren and Veronica Bilotta Paul, both of Texas City; uncle and aunt, George and Margaret Daro Bilotta of League City; longtime friends, Jeanne and David Falk and family of Texas City; and numerous cousins.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. A vigil service and rosary will begin at 7:00 pm at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, Galveston, Texas.

Funeral mass will be held Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Church, Galveston, Texas. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery, Hitchcock, Texas.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are Michael Baty, Eric Paul, Brian Paul, Chase Schwartz, Branon Falk, George Bilotta, Gary Clark and Luster Crider.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
