Matthew Reyna, 43, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 after a vicious battle with Lipo Sarcoma. Always the fighter, Matt never gave up; he tried every treatment M. D. Anderson could offer.

Matt was born in Galveston, Texas on September 17, 1971. He grew up in Galveston and shortly after graduating from Ball High School he joined the US Marines Corps. There Matt made several lifelong friends and served our country for five years. Upon his return, Matt met and married his beautiful wife, Andrea. He attended Texas A&M University and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism, graduating in 2003. After graduation, Matt worked as a Construction Superintendent for 17 years in Houston before deciding to move back to College Station to pursue a better life for his family. In College Station, Matt began working at Primrose School where he used the skills he had learned from his original degree. Working with children was very important to Matt and the short time he had at Primrose was tremendous.

Matt was a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle. He spent his life devoted to his family, friends, and country and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Matt is survived by his wife of 14 years, Andrea Jean Reyna; his son, Matthew Jr. “Bear” (8); and his daughter, Riley “Rose” (6); parents, Alexander Sr. & Dominga Reyna; brother, Alexander Reyna Jr.; sisters, Erica Reyna and Monique Heffernan; and numerous other family members and friends.

Matt’s family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 pm, Sunday, April 12th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will begin at 6:30 pm, led by Deacon Chuck Butler.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Monday, April 13th, at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica with Father Richard Goodin, OFM, as Celebrant.

Pallbearers will be Alex Reyna Jr., Alex Reyna III, Ty Bugo, Ernest Contreras III, Johnny Reyna, and Bryan Lewis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley or M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
